Taking inspiration from NPR's "This American Life," as well as
Class Matters (2006), we present our own creative effort to bring together stories and qualitative research on how the Occupy Wall Street Movement might be seen decades from now. Will history books talk about Occupy Wall Street? If so, how will they portray it? As a mere fad, a revolutionary grassroots effort, or maybe as a political stunt? The 42 students in my two sections of English 102: Inquiry into Grassroots Social Movements at The University of Tennessee will document their research processes. Students will conduct surveys and interviews to find out how a sample of our community views the Occupy Movement. The end product will be a culmination of audio files in the style of "This American Life."
